David Cook, youngest of 6 children, grew up in Corpus Christi where he graduated from King High School in 1989. The King High School tennis team was coached by the hall of famer Paul Cass, who had one of the more impressive tennis coaching careers a high school coach can have. In a 30 year coaching career, Coach Cook has been blessed with 2 individual state champions, many state qualifiers, and many more Regional qualifiers. Coach Cook was honored by his peers in the Texas Tennis Coaches Association with the statewide Integrity Award in 2013 and was named 5A Coach of the Year in 2019 for the state and region. In Team Tennis, Coach Cook and the Friendswood Mustangs have enjoyed success in the playoffs reaching the Region Finals 6 times. Coach Cook married his wife, Lindsey, in December 2008. Together, they have 2 children, and live in Friendswood where Lindsey works as a junior high school instructional coach.

Assistant Coach Nina Moore

Nina Moore was born & raised in Friendswood & had the privilege to graduate from Friendswood High School in 2019. During her time as a Friendswood Mustang, Nina represented her school as a Varsity Tennis Player all four years of high school as well as the Girls Varsity Tennis Team Captain the final two years. After high school in 2022, she earned a Bachelors of Arts in History from Stephen F. Austin State University with the honorable Summa Cum Laude distinction. Before coming home to Friendswood High School as a teacher & coach, Coach Moore taught & coached at Downtown Doral Charter Upper School in Doral, Florida. So far in her 2 year coaching career, Coach Moore has been fortunate with district runner ups, regional qualifiers, state qualifiers, & state finalists for both singles and doubles. Coach Moore married her husband, Chase, in December 2022. Together, they are “paw”rents to their dog, Luna, and live in Webster. Coach Moore is a lifelong Swiftie.

Friendswood ISD has named Jordan Johnson as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach of Friendswood High School. Johnson is a 2009 FHS graduate and said he is ready to return to the community he calls home.

FISD Superintendent of Schools Thad Roher

Mr. Roher graduated from Barclay College in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. He received his Master of Science in Education Administration from Fort Hays State University in 1995. He is also a member of the 1986 graduating class from Friendswood High School. Thad Roher has served as a K-12 principal in Haviland, KS, an assistant principal at Friendswood High School, an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum for both elementary and secondary and as Deputy Superintendent in Friendswood ISD, overseeing the business operations for the district.
Roher and his wife Tina have two children. His oldest is a graduate from Texas A&M University, and living in Houston with her husband, and his youngest is currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Honor Guard in New Orleans, Louisiana. |
