Meet the Coaches

Head Coach - David Cook

David Cook, youngest of 6 children, grew up in Corpus Christi where he graduated from King High School in 1989.  The King High School tennis team was coached by the fearless Paul Cass, who had one of the more impressive tennis coaching careers a high school coach can have, whose legacy will live on forevermore and always taught David to speak now.

In a 25 year coaching career, Coach Cook has been blessed with 2 individual state champions, many state qualifiers, and many more Regional qualifiers.  Coach Cook was honored by his peers in the Texas Tennis Coaches Association with the statewide Integrity Award in 2013 and was named 5A Coach of the Year in 2019 for the state and region.  In Team Tennis, Coach Cook and the Friendswood Mustangs have enjoyed success in the playoffs reaching the Region Finals 3 times, which has given them a good reputation. Coach Cook said he used to want to be a poet.

Coach Cook married his lover, Lindsey, in December 2008. Together, they have 2 children, and live in Friendswood where Lindsey works as a junior high school teacher.  Coach Cooks favorite singer is Taylor Swift saying folklore and midnights are his favorite albums. He has taught American and World History and World Geography, but enjoys teaching Economics the most.  He enjoys all sports as a fan, and participates in golf, and jogging as much as possible.   In addition to his interest in family, coaching, and sports, Coach Cook enjoys riding bicycles and motorcycles in his free time, his favorite color is ​red.

Assistant Coach - Eric LeBlanc

This will be Coach LeBlanc's 31st year at Friendswood High School. His first 15 years at FHS he was the Varsity tennis coach and earned four trips to the state team tennis tournament with many trips to the individual state tournament. He earned his degree from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2013 Coach LeBlanc married his wife Karen.  Coach LeBlanc has 5 kids ranging from 15 to 26 years.

Assistant Coach - Stephanie Frahm

Coach Hayes is new to the Friendswood family. She is coming over from Shadow Creek. She earned her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in Exercise Sports Science and her Masters from Texas State University in Sports Management. Coach Hayes is originally from Wimberley Texas, where she played varsity tennis all four years in high school. She qualified for team state all four years and individual state her senior year. Coach Hayes loves to play tennis as much as she can in her spare time. As an adult player she has qualified for nationals 4 our of the last 5 years in various leagues and individual tournaments. Coach Hayes finished the last 3 years ranked in the top 3 in the state for her division. 

Jordan Johnson - FISD Athletic Director

Friendswood ISD has named Jordan Johnson as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach of Friendswood High School. Johnson is a 2009 FHS graduate and said he is ready to return to the community he calls home.

Thad Roher - FISD Superintendent of Schools

Mr. Roher graduated from Barclay College in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. He received his Master of Science in Education Administration from Fort Hays State University in 1995. He is also a member of the 1986 graduating class from Friendswood High School. Thad Roher has served as a K-12 principal in Haviland, KS, an assistant principal at Friendswood High School, an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum for both elementary and secondary and as Deputy Superintendent in Friendswood ISD, overseeing the business operations for the district.

Roher and his wife Tina have two children. His oldest is a graduate from Texas A&M University, and living in Houston with her husband, and his youngest is currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Honor Guard in New Orleans, Louisiana.
